As the Philippines leads this year’s ASEAN Summit, it is expected for everyone to have their own opinion on how the local government is behaving and handling certain matters. From roadblocks to repainted walls, the efforts of the country to seem presentable to foreign visitors are evident. Many have their eyes on US President Donald Trump and his eerie resemblance to our very own Rodrigo Duterte’s blunt and somewhat rash demeanor, while others are amused with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Jollibee. Nevertheless, we can all pick up a thing or two from this political event.
May the rest of the ASEAN Summit bear fruit and positive outcomes as the leaders of many nations come together to improve the lives of their people. As we face both old and new challenges in society, may we, the Filipino people, remain resilient and hopeful that our government is doing everything in their power to create a better future for us, our kids, and the generations to come.
