Nowadays, we mistake proactiveness for being reactive to certain situations like global warming, self care, and the like. For example, only recently did National Geographic release a video of a starving polar bear in a place that no longer has ice. Since then, the number of people who are aware of the climate situation grew exponentially. If that video did not go viral on social media, do you think that many people would still be as affected and encouraged to care for the environment?
Here’s another example: acne. We usually only react to it once the spot is there. If we were to incorporate acne treatments in our skin care routine even without any apparent pimples yet, it could prevent the growth of acne in the future. This 2018, let us think of the consequences of our actions before deciding upon them, and take precautionary measures in order to avoid struggles in the future.
You can be proactive in the work area, when it comes to friends and relationships, and especially on yourself and the passions you hold. Don’t wait for your boss to demand the tasks being asked of you for almost a week now, clear up your schedule for work and get everything done as soon as possible. Learn to manage your time well so that you can do other things, like take that photography class you’ve always wanted to join or finally take your friend up on that gym session.
Most importantly, be proactive when it comes to our environment. Global warming may undoubtedly be one of the biggest issues the world is facing together, which is why we must all do our part in reducing our carbon footprint through recycling, using degradable products, saving energy, and cutting down on fuel consumption and smoke production.
Be a proactive citizen in your community with social services, outreach programs, and the like. Be proactive with your family and make time for them through finding activities to bond over. Lastly, be proactive with yourself. This year, try to step out of your comfort zone and realize that there is a world of opportunities just waiting for you.
